Innovative Process

HGTech’s laser-arc hybrid welding is based on traditional laser welding with the addition of MIG/MAG filler welding. This compensates for the limitations of laser welding in terms of speed and thickness, making it an advanced welding technique tailored for thin plate panel production in shipbuilding.

High Efficiency

Conventional semi-automatic gas shielded welding typically achieves a welding speed of 0.15–0.4 m/min, and submerged arc welding reaches 0.4–0.7 m/min. HGTech’s laser hybrid welding can exceed 1 m/min. Under the same plate thickness and joint conditions, one HGTech laser hybrid welding unit matches the productivity of 3 to 5 traditional MAG welding units.

Low Deformation

Thin plate welding often causes deformation near the weld seam. By applying HGTech’s laser hybrid welding process, deformation is significantly reduced — only 45–50% of the deformation seen with traditional MAG welding.

Lower Cost

Compared to conventional thin plate welding lines, HGTech’s solution reduces labor by 60%, welding energy consumption per unit by 10%, welding material usage by 30%, and fume emissions by 50%. It also greatly reduces time spent on welding and post-weld straightening.

High Flexibility

HGTech’s thin plate welding line supports welding of various panel sizes and thicknesses, as well as angle welding of longitudinal stiffeners and T-profiles of different lengths and sizes, offering excellent flexibility and adaptability.
