      Recently, the “Intelligent Sorting System with Integrated Multi-modal Perception and Interaction,” independently developed by Huagong Cyber, won the Gold Medal at the 50th Geneva International Exhibition of Inventions, standing out from over 1,000 entries from more than 40 countries around the world.

Geneva Invention Exhibition Gold Medal

      Known as the “Oscars of the invention world,” the Geneva International Exhibition of Inventions was founded in 1973 and is jointly organized by the Swiss Federal Government, the Government of the Canton of Geneva, the City of Geneva, and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). Alongside the Nuremberg and Pittsburgh International Invention Exhibitions, it is one of the world’s three major invention events, and the longest-running and largest in scale globally. Held annually, the exhibition covers cutting-edge fields such as machinery, electricity, medical care, environmental protection, and information technology.

      Research Background

      In industries such as marine engineering, construction machinery, and energy equipment, automated sorting is gradually replacing traditional manual operations. However, existing systems face issues such as complex part characteristics, high environmental interference, and safety risks, severely limiting the engineering application of intelligent sorting solutions.

      System Highlights

      The intelligent sorting system independently developed by Huagong Cyber constructs a multimodal dataset through integrated perception and data processing, builds a perception-decision model using self-attention mechanisms and transfer learning algorithms, and ensures robotic compliance and safety during execution with iterative control algorithms.

      Core Technologies
  • Weak-feature cut-piece recognition and positioning technology with 99% recognition rate, ≤0.5s response time, and ≤1mm positioning accuracy;

  • Reinforcement learning-based task decision model improves sorting efficiency by 20%;

  • Cut-off line generation and recognition technology solves material jamming issues, raising sorting success rate to 99%;

  • Multi-constraint disk scheduling algorithm improves bin utilization by 20% and part set completeness by 15%;

  • Multi-robot collaborative grasping improves overall efficiency by 40%–60%.

  • The system enables efficient and flexible sorting in complex industrial scenarios, reducing manual labor by 80% and doubling operational efficiency.

          Successful Applications

          This technology has been successfully applied in national or industry benchmark factories such as Zoomlion, Taiyuan Heavy Machinery Group, Wuhu Shipyard, Xineng Shipbuilding, and Shunte Electric. It has contributed to the development of nearly 100 smart factories, achieving an annual carbon reduction of over 60,000 tons. It plays a crucial role in promoting high-quality development in industries such as construction machinery, marine engineering, and energy equipment, driving the global industrial green transformation and building a sustainable future for humanity.
